We were originally booked to stay at Landhaus Blauer Spatz but due to Storm Boris and an electrical issue we were relocated to Payerbach Apartments the day before arrival. We were assured that the property was of equivalent standards but on arrival we were somewhat shocked at the overall state of the accommodation. The apartment needs complete renovation (apart from the bathroom), and a DEEP clean. The furniture was a complete mish mash of styles in varying states of decay. On arrival there was an empty used coffee glass outside the entrance, and the outside furniture hadn't been cleaned for a long time. There was a broken bottle on the veranda and even when we asked for the clearner to sort it out, they only managed to spot the largest piece of glass leaving at least two others clearly visible. The overall impression given was that the owners simply didn't care about the apartment. The photo's make it look new, but they must have been taken a long, long time ago! It is also close to the road to the station which the local youth seem to use as a practice run for future pizza delivery jobs, so bring ear plugs. We will not be taking up the offer of a discount for any future visits.
PS. In response to the owners response, we were offered a postponement but we were already enroute to Reichenau so this was not practical (we were notified the day before arrival). The exact message we received was: "Dear Paul Additionally I would like to offer you the following, a voucher of EUR200,- for your next stay with us, do not understand me wrong Payerbach Apartments is beautiful but it does not have a sauna and I want you to be happy with the chanage". There was absolutely no mention of the property being of "a simpler standard" or us being offered an actual discount as a result. That is pure fiction.
PPS. Your "story" doesn't make sense either. If you had told us the property was of a lower standard and offered us an actual refund, I might have changed my mind about accepting the property and looked for somewhere else, but at minimum I would have accepted the refund for an inferior property!
